Building Structure
Time to get started
This is all about time.
I just finished reading The Dip by Seth Godin and watching an Alex Horomozi video on time management. This happened unplanned one right after the other. Serendipity?
Anyway, I came to the conclusion that the one thing I don’t actually want to do every week is work at the bar, but right now this is something that I need to do. Bills don’t pay themselves. Whether I like it or not, is irrelevant. I quit working at a bar because I didn’t see it changing, or evolving, it’s just the same thing day after day.
In 4 months the bar will be a year old. That’s my point of reference. All the “extra” money I get in the next four months will be put away. I have enough books. It’s time to prepare like I have somewhere to go. Pack up all the knowledge, and put it to use.
I could continue reading, but where does that end? There will always be another book to read, a course to take, and an X account to follow so I can read the same platitudes everyone else posts on there.
“Give me money and I’ll teach you how to make $10k a month in the next 48 hours“
They all say the same trite bullshit. Never do they say, figure it out, dude. Know where you’re going, figure out the steps and make it happen.
No, they say, I figured it out so you don’t have to. Now give me money! [Subtext: I’m smarter than you. You can’t do what I do, so pay me. That way I make $10k a month, and get rich]
When November comes, I have to decide to what I’m doing, reduce my days from 3 a week to 2 a week (Fri-Sat)? I do this until the end of the year. Then see where we are. That gives me 6 months to sort this shit out.
Still got some learning to do. All this was written a few weeks ago, things have changed since then. I’ve got a direction. A path to walk. One that requires more knowledge, to be learnt as I go, it can also make me money once I get there aside from the reason to do it in the first place.
If I can’t make things happen in that space of time then I’m doing something wrong and need to reevaluate this whole working for myself thing. Any progress will be something. An indication that I’m still on that path.
Now, Time.
I wake up and just get into a system of reading and working out. This isn’t accomplishing anything by way of forward motion. So that shit needs to change.
It’s time I start to block out my time.
Reading. To wake up my brain.
Writing blog posts. To document all this.
Learning. To keep moving forward.
Writing first (WS) book. So I have something to sell.
Working out (secondary to all the above) To stay healthy, strong, and able.
Recording all the above for YouTube. Extra work could help financially and get the word out, marketing, ads etc.
I’ve been reading everything from Robert Greene, but The 50th Law (Greene and 50 Cent) has pushed me over the edge. Get yours here (Amazon UK). The best self-help book I’ve read so far. You want something done. Done your way? Do it yourself, take control, and get it done.
I’m a Professional Photographer who dabbles in Writing and Documentary Film Making.
I’ve recently quit my job of three and a half years as a Bartender/Manager. Photography began as a hobby and quickly became a passion.
I’m a Professional Photographer, Filmmaker, Writer/Author and this website is where I’m going to document all of it. The good, the bad and the ugly.
