Let’s Begin
You have 993 days left, my guy.
So, on the 14th of August, I came up with a self-improvement programme I call The Wednesday Project (more on the name later). This is a programme to get my mind, body and brain fitter, healthier, and, at a push, bulletproof.
This programme's original name was Batman by 50. But I figured it sounded a little childish; I still like it, but then I’m a bit of a Batman fan. This isn’t a programme to prowl the streets at night sending criminals to the intensive care unit, or attempt to become a Peak Human Genius Billionaire, although that would be AWESOME…
I digress.
So, if I’m not aiming to become The Dark Knight, what am I doing?
The idea behind it is simple:
How fit can I get at 47-50 years old?
Can I learn new academic subjects to an expert level?
Can I change the way my mind works to be more Stoic (for lack of a better word)?
Fitness
It's not just about looking good and being strong; it's about how heavy I can lift, what my limit is, and whether I can push beyond it.
There are 5 main lifts, Squat, Dead Lift, Bench Press, Overhead Press, and Lat Pull Downs/Pull Up's. How much can an 'expert' lift compared to their weight? That's what I want to figure out and aim for. But not at the detriment of flexibility and speed… A balance needs to be found. How big can I get but remain agile?
Frankly, I have no idea, but that is what all this is about: not winning Mister Universe, but remaining functional.
So, apart from lifting weights, there is also;
Cardio.
Conditioning.
Speed & Flexibility.
Endurance.
On top of all of this, there is also Combat - Boxing & Martial Arts. Styles need to be decided on, more on that when I have a clue.
And, of course, none of this means shit if my diet isn't good. Currently, I'm operating on about 3000 calories. 100% Cocoa dark chocolate, bone broth, steak & eggs, salmon, chicken & rice, snack. Every day.
As I progress and become more active than I already am, he says while reclining on a couch typing this shit, I'll need to increase my calories, adding another meal and more carbs.
Again, I have no idea what I'm doing, so I'll just have to play around with it.
Can I do all of this in 993 days - between now and 16th July 2027, with absolutely no clue what I'm doing? I guess we'll find out.
So, up top, I mentioned mind, body and Brain; this post is all about the body and physical training, with some gaps for later posts.
The mind and brain parts will also be left for later once I get started on them. By the end of the 3 years, I should be working pretty much all day every day to make this happen, so a regular job isn't going to work…
I'll figure something out.
