Bio-Hacking
I fucking hate that term
First off, what do we mean when we say biohacking?
A quick Google search through this up.
“Biohacking is a term used to describe do-it-yourself biology. It involves people making incremental changes to their bodies, diet, and lifestyle to improve their health and well-being. Also known as human enhancement, biohacking ranges from efforts to improve brain function to faster weight loss.”
And I think most of us can relate to this;
You should get up early at 5 am.
Before you take in any calories, go on your Huberman walk for at least 20 minutes and get some natural light (Aka, The Sun) in your eyes.
Then, hit the gym before anyone else does. This will ensure that all the equipment you want can be used and that the dumbbells are in the right place on the rack. 🤞Though if you use a Pure Gym, this is unlikely.
Now, get home and down your protein shake.
Do 20-30 minutes of Wim How breathing to recalibrate your mind, feed your brain essential oxygen, and eliminate that horrible, acidic CO2.
Now, a cold shower. At least 2 minutes (you’re looking to get at least 11 minutes a week) unless you do a cold plunge.
Stretch and meditate to relax the body and reset the mind.
It’s now roughly 8 am. You’ve spent the last three hours. Or rather, the first three hours of your day doing all this.
And you want to do this every day?
You’re a better person than I.
In my experience with all of this, I’ve found that it just isn’t sustainable. For me, in any case.
The only thing I’ve been able to maintain over the last two and a half years is my diet. I do the Keto. Though I’m not “hard-line”, I occasionally stray because I like starchy carbs and chocolate. I don’t go crazy by any means. I dabble.
It’s easy, at 12:00 or 13:00 (yes, I use the 24-hour clock), I eat launch, usually steak, three fried eggs, a dollop of Sauerkraut, and asparagus. I keep the carbs away as later on I might have a sandwich with, wait for it;
WHITE BREAD
I’ll do another blog/newsletter about decision fatigue later.
Okay, so on to what I’m trying next.
Over the last few days, I’ve woken up before 5 am. At first, it was just a thing. I woke up and couldn’t go back to sleep, so I just got up and got on with my day.
In the first four hours, I had completed an online course on branding and was most of the way through another module, this one on Photography.
Yes, I’m a professional Photographer, so why am I doing an online course for something I already know? I’ll get to that in another blog/newsletter.
By lunchtime, I had completed the courses I had planned for that day, redesigned all the branding across all my platforms, website and socials and was on my way to building more engagement on Twitter, Threads and if you’re on it, Linkedin.
Hey man, hop along the gravy train and give me a follow.
I guess what I’m trying to say here is this;
Give it all a try; what sticks, sticks. If it doesn’t, don’t sweat it. Replace it with something else you’d rather be doing.
I’m trying this, get up at 5 am. The alarm is set for 04:55. Make a cuppa tea, and get to work.
I spend 20 - 30 minutes on socials. Going over what replies I got while asleep. Then onto whatever else I’m doing, another course or writing this blog/newsletter post. I’ll let you know how it’s all going in a week or two.
Later today, I’ll take a 30-minute walk break. Get some exercise. Maybe do some Wim How breathing, then hit the cold shower.
My point is that I’m still trying to do all those things, just not during the most productive part of my day. Which just so happen’s to be in the first four hours.
Did anyone else hear Tenacious D when you read “ just so happen’s to be”?
My work is done by the time everyone in this city sits down at a desk, hopefully not in a bland, sterile cubicle, to start their day.
I’ve spent 2-hours writing (Thank you @DanKoe) and engaged on Social media to build up my brand, and I started an online course which will help me along the way.
So, to summarise;
Try it. If it works, cool beans; if it doesn’t, toss it aside and rethink it, but;
GET UP EARLY!
That is the thing that holds true here.
I’m a Professional Photographer who dabbles in Writing and Documentary Film Making.
I’ve recently quit my job of three and a half years as a Bartender/Manager. Photography began as a hobby and quickly became a passion.
And this website is where I’m going to document all of it. The good, the bad and the ugly.
