On this day I…
Accountability.
It helped get you off of alcohol. Maybe it can help you get better control of Project Wednesday.
Going to the gym is getting easier, even when I don’t want to or am a little sick. I just go. 20 minutes there and back and you spend maybe 50-60 minutes training. Easy.
This is easy math because you’re not using a lot of time to do this, you made it easy. Habits are easier to develop if you make them easy. Pick your time, and tell yourself that you’re going to the gym. If it’s not a lot of time out of your day, then go. I mean you’ll spend more time later procrastinating about not going than if you just go.
Now, you just need to bring this mindset to your studies. How can you make them easy?
Well, you can’t. Not yet.
Now, we’re not talking about just picking up a book and reading it. The start of any new study subject takes time. You have to get acquainted with the material. Learn the basics.
So what if you’re starting multiple new subjects?
It would be nice to fall back on something that you already knew or started so if you feel bogged down you can jump back into that, but you don’t.
All the above might be generic and nothing new. But not wrong.
So I guess the best way to start a new study subject is to just get started. Give yourself a short time limit, 15 minutes should do. And go from there. build that new habit slowly.
Why 15 minutes? Trying to go 2 hours and failing will set you back and impact your mindset in a negative way.
Make it easy, build the habit and gather the basics. The likelihood is you’ll spend more time studying anyway. Try to make a point of always starting at the same time and at the same place. You’ll do better with an ‘office’.
