Accountability. It helped get you off of alcohol. Maybe it can help you get better control of Project Wednesday. Going to the gym is getting easier, even when I don’t want to or am a little sick. I just go. 20 minutes there and back and you spend maybe 50-60 minutes training. Easy.

The Wednesday Project

Here we go again. Again… This seems to be a recurring theme here but I need this to work so I’ll keep going until it does, making small changes until everything falls into place. Or when enough falls into place that it doesn’t derail. I NEED this to work.

And here we are. Again.

A few weeks ago I tried to change things up—most notably my sleep. You see I wanted less, sleep, as much as I love getting it is a bit of a waste of time, right. Okay, sure we need a good amount of it to function, but we could get so much more done every day if we could get less.

Building Will Power. Having willpower isn’t a catch-all situation, once you attain it for one thing, it doesn’t mean you have it for everything else. I can wake up at 5 am and feel good. I can step into a cold shower and barely react, pick up a book and read for hours. The willpower to do all those has been developed. Each one, in turn.

This, frankly, has been one of the hardest Stoic ideologies to stick to. Sometimes, while working the whisky bar I can’t help but interject and correct someone on a piece of knowledge. It’s a dumb-fuckery thing to do I know but sometimes I can’t help myself. I am working on it.

This morning I read chapter four of ‘The Way of the Superior Man’ by David Deida. HERE It starts; “Know your real edge. It is honourable for a man to admit his fears, resistance, and edge of practice.“ “But it is dishonourable for him to lie to himself or others about his real place. He should pretend he is more enlightened than he is—

If you’re on ‘business X,’ you’ll be familiar with all the young up-start, 10k/month crowd. Those who say working every waking moment, seven days a week, is how to succeed because success isn’t enough. You have to crush your competition, and the only way to do that is to; WORK HARDER, LONGER, LOUDER…

Here’s my take on Men and expressing Joy. Frankly, if you want to see joy in a Real Man, obscure 80’s - 90’s movie references, power tools, cars, and being lazy on a Sunday morning with his woman. Men typically don’t express themselves the same way women do. While women express their feelings and emotions on their sleeves, Men don’t. Why?
