Getting Started. Again…
The Wednesday Project
Just because you're over 45 doesn't mean you can't be healthy, fit, sexy, or educated. Old dogs can learn new tricks. We're going to train our bodies and our minds to get back our youth:
The body, through healthy eating and physical training.
And our minds by developing mental clarity and through study.
I'm not going to sit here and tell you what to do when, frankly, I have no idea what I'm doing. So I will do it, trial and error style, and report back to you each week on what works and what doesn't. But keep in mind that what works for me might not work for you.
I'll do my best to give you alternatives. This will get better as time passes and my knowledge increases on these subjects. Like I said, I have no idea what I'm doing; I'm just DOING IT.
But, Jason, what is the point of all this?
I'm glad you asked, we know that increasing bone and muscle density will prolong life and that you will be less likely to injure yourself later in life. Injuries that can leave you bedbound will cause you to become more frail, which can lead to more injuries. It can also have a psychological effect; the idea of 'giving up' enters the mind: "I'm too old for this".
Higher bone density means they are less likely to break if you fall. Stronger muscles will mean that you will more likely be able to catch yourself and be able to support your weight if you fall, again reducing injury, being unable to pick yourself up after a fall can destroy your confidence in yourself. You'll also look badASS at 60+. We train our bodies now to be more effective later, and of course, we get all the benefits of a healthy body between now and then. Then, being further away.
Okay, I'm not asking you to lift your body weight if you think you're already past it, just maybe your grandchild's.
Let's talk about your brain.
We should think of our brains as muscles that need to be exercised to stay fit and healthy. How do we exercise a brain? By making it work, of course. Read books that are harder than you're used to. Study a subject that you're already interested in. Do anything that challenges you to think.
AVOID DAY TIME TV!!! That shit'll rot your brain.
My subjects of choice are a combination of interests and things that will help me develop my intelligence with all the above so I can better help you guys and help me write my series of Detective Crime Fiction. There are a few in there that are just purely interests, like the history of England.
My point here is that I'm challenging my mind to work, keeping those Neurons active. Because, like muscles, if they are not active, they wither and become useless. This can lead to degenerative brain disorders, more on that later.
And, of course, all of this will be helped along with a good, nutrient-dense diet. Frankly, I'm not interested in whether you're on the carnivore or vegan diet. Just make sure you're getting EVERYTHING you need. Protein (and amino acids), fats (olive oil, etc, NO VEGETABLE or SEED OILS) and some carbs.
I'm mostly a carnivore, 80-90% or Keto, so I can only really talk about that. Again, I'll do my best to offer alternatives, just more to learn along the way.
Something else to understand: I'll be utilising other people's knowledge to fill in my gaps. If there is something I don't know, I will find someone who does, ask them and then pass it on to you.
For me, this is a three-year project,
The Wednesday Project
It started on the 14th of August 2024 and ends on the 16th of July 2027. My 50th. My goals for this project will be published soon enough.
Let's just start with this.
Come along for the ride and watch me fail, fail, fail until I succeed. Or do that and follow along, improving yourself as we go. This Project ends in less than three years, but there is no reason why it can't go on until the end.
Have a great day and good luck.
